The Parshall City Council found out more about Arfa Contracting's plans for developing the Highlands of Parshall and heard the results of a study that could help solve some of the drainage problems that plague Parshall after heavy rains.
Jim Lukasiewicz came before the council to update the city on the 320 acre development on the north side of Parshall, which they call the Highlands of Parshall. Lukasiewicz started with a video presentation from Charles Kubat, the main designer of the project. He then presented a map showing an eight acre section of what is known as the Nelson property that would be the site of a hotel development close to the intersection of Seventh Ave. and North Dakota Highway 37. There was an extended discussion back and forth with Lukasiewicz as the council tried to figure out what he wanted them to do. Lukasiewicz stated that he realized that Arfa Contracting still has to provide the city with a great deal of information needed to approve a plat map for the city. He said he would like to carve out the hotel plat from the larger Nelson property so the company can enter into a partnership with a company that may be interested in developing hotels in the area.
