Braves fall in home football opener
By Jerry W. Kram
It has been a tough year for the Parshall/White Shield Braves Football team as they have struggled scoring points. It was no different as the 0-3 Braves fell to the Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood Mavericks in the home opener in Parshall Friday by a score of 56-0.
The Braves lack size on the offensive line, making it difficult for the Braves to get a consistent running game going. That force Head Coach Jay Clausen to rely on senior quarterback Daniel Benevides to create opportunities in the passing game. Benevides and receivers Chantay LaCroix and Jase Dickens showed few flashes of potential throughout the game, but the Mavericks took two of three first quarter interceptions to the end zone and had a touchdown drive following the other en route to a 28-0 score at the end of the first quarter.
