Area townships get $2 million for roads

The Board of University and School Lands (Land Board) today awarded more than $12 million in Energy Impact Grants for political subdivisions impacted by rapid development in the state’s oil and gas counties. Townships in southern Mountrail and northeastern McKenzie Counties received more than $2 million to repair damaged roads. Mandaree also received a $49,000 grant for its emergency management services program.

More than 130 grants totaling $12,360,242 were awarded from the Oil and Gas Impact Grant fund to political subdivisions, including cities, counties, townships and park districts.

Austin Township, Burke Township, Debing Township, Mcalmond Township, Oakland Township, Osborn Township, Purcell Township, Spring Coulee Township, in Mountrail County and Hawkeye Valley Township in McKenzie County all received grants to correct damage roads and culverts. Mountrail County also received $300,000 for repairs to County Road 10. Mandaree received $49,600 for safety equipment and training for volunteers.
