Area Halloween gets early jump start

By Edna Sailor.

Halloween got a jump start recently when Dora the Explorer and Elmo came to New Town to give little tykes a chance for a photo shoot with them. Shylah Demaray and her Décor and Events business hosted the party at the civic center. Pirates, ghosts, skeletons, and other frightful creatures showed up for the photographs, cup cake walk, contests and games. So did some dancers, a princess or two and others without costumes. They showed up for the pizza and other great treats available throughout the evening event. No doubt some kids will dig out their costumes and go out again on Halloween, the real one. And when they do they will have many good choices.

Ghosts and Goblins can stick close to home if they want or travel on a broom or perhaps find themselves chased by a rattling skeleton for spooky celebrations elsewhere. Up and down the highway 23 corridor, spookiness and fun has been promised by a number of daring sponsors.

The boys and Girls Club in New Town will hold their Haunted House at their Club on October 29th from 7-10 p.m. This event is considered a family event and families are welcome. There is a $2 fee for the event.
