Annex plan gets new life

Annex plan gets new life

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
A group of patrons from the Ryder area whose property is in the Lewis & Clark School District are going back to plead their case before county and state officials. They would like their property annexed to the Max School District from the Lewis & Clark District.
A previous effort was approved at the county level a year ago, but was denied at the state level by the North Dakota State Board of Public Education in Bismarck.
A public hearing will be before the Ward and McLean County School District Reorganization Committees Wednesday, April 24, at 1 p.m. in the commissioners’ chambers, Ward County Courthouse, Minot.
The purpose of the meeting, like it was a year ago, will be to consider a petition for annexing a territory to Max School District from Lewis & Clark School District. Lewis & Clark School District is located primarily in Ward County and Max School District is located primarily in McLean County.
The new plan includes about 184 quarters of land. The petition is signed by the residents on the affected area to be annexed. The original proposal was 480 quarters.
Townships, or portions of townships included are Orlein, Linton, Anna, Ryder and Cameron. The only township affected in McLean County is a segment of Blue Hill.
The new plan is approximately the same amount of land that Lewis and Clark had agreed they would accept at the County and State hearings during the first petition, supporters for the annexation said.
