A celebration 100 years in the making

Parshall Centennial Celebration a success

By Jerry W. Kram

Old friends who hadn’t seen each other in 50 years. Dance floors filled with ages 8 to 80. Barbeque battles and honoring those who served.

Each was a part of marking 100th anniversary of the founding of Parshall. The four day party started on Thursday and didn’t finish until the last golfer finished the Centennial Golf Scramble on Sunday. Estimates are that Parshall easily doubled in size for the celebration and there could have more than that in attendance.

Jeanette Hoff was chair of the committee that organized the celebration. She said the committee has been planning and fundraising for this event for the last four years.

"It’s been really good," Hoff said. "It has been four years. I didn’t expect that those four years would go this fast. They sailed by."

Hoff said the Committee started off with a spaghetti feed four years ago where people were asked to choose a subcommittee to sign up. Hoff said she was fortunate that some many dedicated people worked so hard on each of the subcommittees, making her job of overseeing the entire event so much easier.
