The 5th and 6th grade basketball teams paid a visit to Max on the 23rd and came away with a couple wins. In the first game, the 5th graders weathered a start that looked more like hockey or soccer, back and forth but no scoring before coming away with a lopsided, 38-6 win. The 6th grade team started fast but struggled for a couple quarters before pulling away at the end for a 28-20 win, their first this season.
Lid kept on
The basket wasn't covered, at least you couldn't see a cover, but both teams struggled to score in the first quarter. Over 5 minutes had been played before the Troopers finally broke through with a Ty Schlehr hoop. But that didn't ignite anything that could be described as an offensive explosion as they managed only a slim 4-0 lead after one quarter. The Troop opened up a double digit lead at halftime before blowing the game open in the third quarter. They coasted from there on the way to a 38-6 win.
Double trouble
Clay Bendickson and Dawson Wimer led the scoring with 12 and 14 points respectively. But the defense was the story of this game as they did a good job moving their feet, helping when a teammate was beaten on a play, and switching on screens.

Fast, furious
The 6th grade team started fast, scoring in double figures in the first quarter to take a 9 point lead. But the Troopers struggled in the next two frames while the Cossacks kept plugging away, staying well within striking distance. In the final period, the Troop pulled away a little and finished with a 28-20 win.
