WHITE SHIELD — In the last meeting the White Shield Warriors and the Williston Trinity Christian Crusaders had a year ago, the Crusaders knocked the Warriors out of the District 15 quarterfinals by six points. Last Friday, the Warriors took the spotlight, grabbing the win 74-67.
Kai Thomas, the Crusader’s six foot five guard, was the leading player, scoring a total of 38 points; his first five points started the game off during the first minute. While Thomas and fellow guard James Richards kicked in all of the team’s first quarter 20 points, the Warriors were more diversified; four of the team’s five starters – Jase Dickens, Bryant Wells, Oscar Felix and Owen Hosie – scored 24 points in all that quarter, making it the Warriors’ most profitable quarter. In a three minute block, the four scored back-to-back buckets, a three-pointer from Dickens, and free throws, jumping the score from five to 20.
