NEW TOWN – In the first day of the Region 8 tournament, it was quite a barnburner for the White Shield Warriors who ultimately fell to the Divide County Maroons by one point, 51-52, on Monday evening at the New Town Event Center, ultimately knocking them out of the tournament and ending their season more prematurely than anticipated.
“I’m a little upset it didn’t go the way we wanted,” said head coach Shaun Knife. “To win in the regional tournament, we have to be better mentally and be more ready.”
Divide County maintained the lead, albeit by a few points, through the majority of the first half, but threes and frees from the Warriors soon matched them 24-24 in the second quarter. The Maroons, however, squeaked by with a few more scores, ending the half 30-25, with Divide County ahead.
