Volleyball Homecoming frustration
By TYSON SMEDSTAD
A full student section decked out for the Garrison-Max Varsity volleyball teams “Black Out” night against Minot’s Shiloh-Christian.
“We played well against Shiloh,” Head Coach Brooke Walter said.
The first set showed the girls’ strengths with a lot of blocks at the net. It was a tight match up and a tight game, staying within a few points throughout the entire match. The Lions looked sloppy. The Troopers were able to pull off a win 25 to Shiloh-Christian’s 20.
During the second set, Shiloh came out very strong right away, but it was short lived. The Troopers came back with a nine point streak, keeping the score close with long volleys. Shiloh was held at 24 as the Troop charged back from the significant deficit. The Lions were able to squeak out a slim victory 25-24.
Back and forth again in the third set, the teams were always within a few points. The crowd was getting rowdy with Dawson Wimer leading the charge. Sadly the Lady Troopers were not able to turn it around, losing the third set 19-25.
