Troopers’ Essler best at regions
Runners turn attention to state

Next up, the state cross country meet for the Garrison Troopers. Leading the way will be Robyn Essler.
The freshman speedster placed first in the girls division at this past weekend’s regional cross country meet in New Town. She turned in a time of 15:28 for the 2.48-,mile distance. Fellow freshman Jessica Dimitch placed 72nd in a time of 21:41. As a team, the Trooper girls placed 12th in a 15-team field. The top team at regionals was Watford City with 78. Surrey was second at 96, while Parshall was third at 102.
For Essler’s first place finish, she was named a member of the all region team. That distinction is bestowed on the top 20 runners.
Senior Chris Dimler just missed all region recognition, placing 22nd in 19:43. Chris was one of five senior athletes who was nominated for regional senior athlete of the year.
