Troopers sneak by Surrey in season opener

The Troop took on the Surrey Mustangs in their season opener at home on Saturday. Final score ended up Garrison 58 to Surrey’s 55.
The Troopers charged into the lead with a 10 point advantage within the first two minutes of the against the Mustangs.
Garrison continued to dominate in the second quarter deep in the lead with a more than 10 points advantage throughout.
At half time the score was Garrison 33 to Surrey’s 21.
Ty Wolken ended up with a questionable technical foul, giving the Mustangs a chance to recover from their huge deficit.
“We saw some really good things and a couple really bad spots that let them get back into,” head coach Justin Folk said. “We need to continue to get better everyday.”
Surrey staged come back bring the the score within four point with two minutes left in the third, while the Mustangs outscored the Troopers in both the third and fourth quarters.
“It was a tough game to get in any type of game flow with that many fouls and free throws,” Folk said. “But we are in a lot better place than this time last year.”
