Troopers pick up first win
BY GARY ERICKSON
With temps in the 30s, the Trooper baseball team took the field in Hazen for a non-region doubleheader with the Bison Monday. Fans weren’t the only folks dressing in layers and the umpires even stretched the rules a bit, allowing the players to wear some extra gear to stay warm.
The Troopers lit up the board early with a couple runs in the 1st inning on consecutive, 2-out RBI singles by Braxton and Treyson Iglehart. Jack Bright started on the mound for the Troopers and gave up a couple tough luck, unearned runs in the bottom of the first, tying the game at 2. The Troopers tacked on another run in the second to take a 3-2 lead. Bright was on a pitch count limit as the coaching staff managed the pitching staff’s workload and after recording an out, Bennet Kamp relieved Bright and held the Bison scoreless.
