Troopers overcome Bison

By STU MERRY

The Garrison Lady Troopers moved their record to a perfect 4-0 Tuesday night, defeating the visiting Hazen Bison 47-42. But the win didn’t come easy.

The Troopers opened strong, leading by as much as 10 in the first half. But the persistent and determined Bison wouldn’t go away, and at intermission the score saw Garrison on top, 26-22. At the end of three, the Troop clung precariously to a 34-33 lead. That lead would evaporate quickly.

The first two minutes of the fourth quarter was all Bison. The girls in green out-hustled and out-played their counterparts, going on a 7-0 run to lead by six, 40-34, with only 1:15 gone. The Troopers were reeling on their heels.

With about 5:30 remaining, the Troopers came alive. Breathing new life into the team was Taylor Kamp. Playing in foul trouble, the 5’6" junior guard connected for a pair of buckets. She added a couple free throws and the score was tied.
