Troopers open with victory
By STU MERRY
It was a good night for the Garrison-Max Troopers varsity football team.
The Troop headed north to Lewis & Clark Berthold and came away victorious, winning 12-0.
All the scoring was in the first half. Chasen Cooper gobbled up a loose ball and rambled in for a score in the first quarter. The conversion failed, but the Troop had a lead.
Trooper QB Nashton Wimer found Cain Foss from eight yards out, and the aerial was on target to make the score 12-zip. A two-point conversion failed, and that concluded all the scoring.
The Troopers dominated the Bombers, racking up 204 yards total offense to 34 for L & C.
On the ground, G-M amassed 130 yards to Berthold’s 23. In the passing department, the Troopers again were strong with 74 yards to the Bombers’ 11.
