Troopers open season with win over MPB
Garrison opened the season with a 54-50 victory over Medina/Pingree-Buchanan in the Lion Boys’ Basketball Shootout, Dec. 14, in Linton.
Garrison’s defensive pressure caused problems for MPB early on, and the Troopers, who forced nine turnovers in the opening quarter, jumped out to a 7-0 lead about two and a half minutes into the game. MPB couldn’t get on the board until Chase Ova banked in a three-pointer from the left wing at the 4:30 mark of the quarter, but the Thunder kept pace, and closed the gap to 10-8 after a three-pointer by Roper Foerderer with just over a minute left. Jed Heidbreder’s three-point play kept Garrison in the lead, and the Troopers took a 13-10 lead into the second quarter.
