GARRISON — Kicking off their run of action in the McLean County Shootout Garrison’s Troopers looked to defend their home court from the Grant County-Mott-Regent Coyotes on Jan. 6, a task the Troopers would ultimately succeed in winning 66-56. In the game’s first quarter Garrison got off to a slow start struggling to overcome the Coyotes’ defense, only scoring 12 points in the quarter. Coyotes’ players found no difficulty scoring in the period, dropping 26 points, led by an astonishing 17 from center Weston Zacher. While offense as a whole was difficult for the Troopers to find, Braxton Iglehart led the group in scoring with two three-pointers in the quarter. Head Coach Justin Folk’s group kicked things into gear following their slow start, in the game’s second period scoring 18 points while only allowing 14, effectively cutting into the Coyotes’ lead. Two more three-point shots from Iglehart was once again Garrison’s largest offensive
contribution, however this quarter saw scoring from four Troopers in total.
