Troopers get back on winning track against Hazen

After a tough loss to Belfield over the weekend, Garrison got back on the winning track with a convincing, 79-55 victory over Hazen, Jan. 13, in Hazen.
Garrison improved to 7-3 on the season, while Hazen, which plays in Region 4 of the Class A Division, fell to 4-5. Little Hail Perkins and Gaige Roberts did most of the offensive damage, combining for 61 points between them for the Troopers.
Garrison came storming out of the gate, connecting on its first five field goal attempts while opening up an 11-0 cushion less than three minutes into the game. Keaton Batke finally got the Bison on the board with a field goal with just over five minutes left in the quarter, but Garrison answered with an 8-2 run, and a putback field goal by Perkins at the 2:25 mark extended the Troopers’ lead to 19-4.
Hazen could not get closer than 11 points after that, and Perkins’ triple from the left wing at the buzzer gave the Troopers a 24-10 advantage.  Garrison shot a sizzling, 69% (11 of 16) from the field in the first quarter, and Perkins and Roberts led the Troopers’ barrage with nine points apiece.
