Regional tournament time is here for the Garrison Troopers and Max-Sawyer baseball teams.
The two closed out the season with a flurry in an attempt to get all regional contests in. Monday, the two teams squared off in Garrison with the Troopers taking both ends of the twin bill, 10-0 and 14-3.
In the opener, extreme windy conditions didn’t affect the Troopers’ Andrew Haugen. The sophomore breezed through the Cossack batting order, fanning nine of the 15 batters he faced. The only two blemishes were one hit batter and one walk.
The Troopers banged out eight hits, led by Ramsey Crawford’s three singles. Haugen helped himself, going 2-4.
In the second game, Colin MacDonald twirled a two-hit gem, called after three innings due to the mercy rule.
The Troopers banged out eight hits off Cossack pitchers. Leading the hit parade was Crawford who had a pair of doubles. Hunter Linz was 2-3, and Brookes Reinholt, 2-3.
