Troopers claim district crown
By STU MERRY
For the second time in three years, the Garrison Lady Troopers are District 10 champions.
The ladies did it in grand style Saturday night, defeating the top seed in the district, the Underwood Comets, 56-40.
The Troopers fell hard to Underwood during the season, losing 61-32, Jan,. 12.
Hoping to avoid a repeat, Coach Sandra Essler said she put the girls’ minds at ease before the game.
“We went in with the attitude this was a seeding game,” she said. “Whether we were one or two, we were going to the regionals, and I think it took the pressure off.”
Essler said the girls are playing good ball as of late.
