Troopers caught in a Storm

The sky was sunny and the temperature warm Tuesday night for the opening game of the season for the Garrison-Max Troopers football team. But at Ray Field, Storm clouds were brewing – Grant County-Flasher Storm clouds.
The Storm came ready to play, racking up 54 points en route to a 54-0 whipping of the home team Garrison-Max Troopers. It was not the way the Trooper faithful had hoped the season would start.
The Troop couldn’t sustain drives throughout the first half, committing three turnovers. The Storm capitalized on two.
G-M mounted a rally just before the half, getting to the Storm 20, but a Gabe Lassila aerial was short of its mark and was picked off by Storm defender Zach Schmidt.
The Troop tried to mount a rally in the second half but it just wasn’t to be.
The Storm broke on top early, hitting paydirt at the 6:16 mark of the first quarter when QB Taylor Krenz connected with Dustin Iverson from 12 yards out. Krenz connected with Zachary Schmidt for the two-point conversion and the Storm were up 8-0.
