The Garrison-Max Troopers track season kicked off in earnest this past week at the Minot State University Dome as a number of teams converged to compete at the NWC Indoor Track Meet.
The boys team placed 7th in a field of 13, while the girls place 6th of 12 teams.
Coach Jason Ermer said he was excited for the team to see some action. “We have been working indoors on the account of weather, and getting to run in an area where we can open up a little bit is a relief.”
On the boys side, Levi Hummel placed 4th in the 200m (25.35). Ermer said the coaching staff was impressed with Levi’s times.
In the 400m, the Troopers had two placers – Conner Moe placed fourth (1:02.32) and Royce Brawley (7th, 1:02.85).
“The staff was quite excited to see two of our 400 runners place,” Ermer said. “We are optimistic for the outdoor season and we really started looking forward to the 1600m relay.”
Shelby Everett crossed the finish in 4th in the 800m (2:31.75).
Ermer observed it’s always nice to see athletes come into a season having conditioned on their own. “It helps accelerate their progress during the season,” he said. “Great job to Shelby in the 800m.”
Other results: 4x400m relay (Levi Hummel, Conner Moe, Shelby Everett and Royce Brawley) 3rd, (4:07.86).
