Trooper track qualifies five

Five members of the Garrison-Max track team are headed to Bismarck this weekend to compete at the state level in track and field.
On the boys side, three athletes qualified in five events – Levi Hummel in long jump (region champ), high jump (region champ) and 200m dash; Trevor Schmidt in 110m hurdles; Shelby Everett in long jump.
Ruby White qualified for state in the javelin on the girls side, and Macy Dimler qualified in the 100m hurdles (region champ). Ruby and Levi are repeat state participants.
Coach Jason Ermer said Macy had a great 100m hurdle race. "She was basically in a three-way tie with one hurdle left and her hours of practice paid off as she was able to clear the last hurdle cleanly and lean across the finish line for a championship," he said.
Ruby couldn’t quite get a personal best in her events, but the javelin was good enough for a trip to Bismarck.
There were hopes of qualifying a girls relay team. "We were edged out in the 4x2 and 4x1," Ermer said.
