The Garrison-Max track season is underway. The team opened at the Northwest Conference Meet Thursday at the Minot State University Dome.
The girls team turned some heads, bringing home some hardware, placing third with 55.5 points.
Coach Anthony Brossart said it was a great opening meet. He talked about the performance.
"The girls team finished third, despite getting disqualified in a relay that we won," he said. "A tough pill to swallow but they will learn from it. We have some high expectations this year."
Picking up first place finishes were Cassidy Huesers in the 1600m run and Macy Dimler in the 55m hurdles. The girls 3200m relay team of Katherine Fox, Cassidy Huesers, Noelle Ide and Emily Klein claimed second. Kaitlyn Klein also took second in the 55m dash. The 1600m relay team, Danielle Dimitch, Skylar Bright, Kaitlyn Klein and Cassidy Huesers, sprinted to a second place finish as well.
