Trooper netters open home schedule
Team hosts Standing Rock
By STU MERRY
After a couple of 3-0 setbacks to Lewis & Clark Berthold and Des Lacs-Burlington last week, the Garrison-Max Troopers volleyball team hopes some home cooking, playing on the Roy Shei Gym floor, will turn their fortunes around.
The Lady Troopers host their first home game tonight (Thursday) against Standing Rock. It’s the first Super Region game of the season for the ladies.
Coach Jen Hirsch said the matches against Berthold and DLB gave the team a chance to get rid of first-game jitters and prepare itself for Super Region play.
Hirsch said the Lady Troopers opened their 2017 campaign against a Berthold team that had already played five matches the previous weekend.
“The Troopers came out with a lot of excitement, grit, and fought out their first match jitters,” she said, adding the team came up short with a lot of first game type errors.
