The Garrison Troopers girls golf team showed what it is made of at the right time and the right place.
First, the ladies turned in a strong performance at the regional tournament, finishing runner-up. Then, it was followed up by a strong showing last week at state in Bismarck where the team scored a 10th place finish in an 18-team field.
Coach Liz Schieler said she was very pleased how the girls golfed this year.
“In the past we haven’t always been able to show people what we are capable of at the state tournament and this year we did,” she said. “Being able to come in with a team total of 814 over the two days is a very good starting point to build on next year.”
As the girls headed out for day one of state at Tom O’Leary, everyone was anxious to see what the day would bring, the coach said. Luckily, the Troopers were able to have a mostly successful day as Mackenzie Jacobson came in tied for 8th with a 91, Ally came in tied for 35th with an even 100, and Kelsea was also in the top half of the pool with a 107 putting her tied for 59th.
