The Garrison Troopers closed out District 10 play this past Friday in Max, getting past a tough Cossacks team 60-51. With the win, the Troopers are 3-2 in the district.
For the Cossacks, they closed out their portion of district play Tuesday night at Washburn. Coming in, Max was 1-3 in district games.
The Troopers were without the services of leading scorer Ian MacDonald who re-injured his knee. Coach Jason Mattheis said he suspects Ian will be out the remainder of the season. Prior to last Friday’s game, Mattheis said he hoped Ian would be back in time for the district tournament, which is just around the corner. Districts get underway next Thursday in Garrison.
Stepping up to fill Ian’s shoes was Levi Hummel who connected for 15. Back in the fold after being out with a hip injury was Brookes Reinholt. He showed he hadn’t lost a step, draining 16. Mykle Rud also had a good night, scoring 17.
For the Cossacks, Brett O’Grady had a break-out night, scoring a game-high 23.
