Track team poised for season

A strong nucleus returns for the Garrison-Max track team for the 2014 season. That’s in contrast to recent years when the squad featured many underclassmen and junior high members.
Leading this year’s team are a pair of state qualifiers last spring. Levi Hummel returns to try and get back to the state meet in the long jump. Shot put ace Ruby White is also back with her eye on a return to the state stage.
Also qualifying and competing at the state level last year were Libbi Hasenwinkel (400m run) and Kassi Knutson (discus). Both were seniors.
So far, the team is 35 strong, give or take a few. Those are good numbers that will give the team some depth as many are veterans. "Our roster has been changing daily since we started before basketball was over and we still may have some athletes joining our squads," said Coach Jason Ermer.
