Amazing – simply amazing.
Coach Mark Harris was close to speechless when trying to describe what Garrison-Max golfer Levi Tomlinson had accomplished at this year’s boys’ state golf tournament.
“It’s pretty amazing … it was a fine day,” he said.
Tomlinson shot what could almost be called the perfect round, coming from 23rd place after day one action to wind up with a fourth place finish. The tournament was in Carrington.
Harris admitted day two action was emotional, yet fun as the day (and results) unfolded.
“It was just a cool day,” he said.
After returning to the clubhouse on the second day, Levi said he was surprised to find himself in first. He and Coach Harris quickly became scoreboard watchers. And as each golfer came in and scores posted the two realized a top 10 finish was in reach. And as the last golfers turned in their scores that chance of finishing higher improved.
Reflecting on the reality that fourth best in the state had been secured, the two were left in amazement.
“It was a cool moment for him,” Harris said.
