The Garrison-Max-Central McLean Titans were hoping to keep their winning ways in tact and secure second place stature in the section Tuesday night heading into the contest against the Watford City Walleye. Unfortunately, the visitors spoiled the party. Watford took two – both counters – taking the opener 13-10 as well as the nightcap, 11-7.
The Titans came in, boasting two gratifying wins over Ray this past Thursday in Ray. The Titans took the first game 9-6, then the second game 12-8. The Titans now stand at 8-8 overall -- 7-5 in section play and 4-4 in counter games.
Coach Nathan Turck admitted the Watford City losses were tough to take.
“But that is baseball,” he said.
Putting the past in the past, Turck said the Titans will just have to regroup and get after it down the home stretch.
“We have the talent,” he said. “It just wasn’t our night with the gloves.”
One drawback was the number of mistakes made in the field.
“That got us out of the games early, but we fought back in both,” Turck said, shedding some light on the team’s resiliency.
Not lamenting over what could have been Turck thinks the Titans still have room to show themselves.
“I think we are still sitting good in the region if we play like we are capable of the last couple region games,” he said.
The boys in blue will participate in a tourney this weekend in Surrey. The Titans play one game Friday, two on Saturday and another Sunday. July 8, the Titans are at Crosby.
