Titans split season opener with Velva
GARRISON — Monday evening the Garrison Titans Legion baseball program kicked off their summer season of action with a non-counter double header against friendly non-regional rival Velva.
Across their two games of action the teams split the contests each walking away with a win – 12-1 in Velva’s favor in game one and 4-3 in Garrison’s favor in game two.
To get their season started Garrison called upon ace Matt Jochim to take the bump against Velva’s own ace Hank Bodine.
Though both pitchers located the ball well Velva’s squad was simply all over Jochim’s pitches from the get go. Despite getting out of the first inning unscathed, Jochim allowed multiple baserunners to reach base, a sign of things to come in the contest for Velva’s potent offense.
