Subduing the Skyhawks
Troopers beat Skyhawks, 3-0, in Homecoming win

With enthusiasm from the crowd and a feeling of school spirit coursing through their veins, the Garrison Troopers ably defeated the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks in a favorable 3-0 win Oct. 30. The match helped to punctuate Garrison’s week of Homecoming festivities, which included the crowning of outside hitter Madelin Hurt as homecoming queen.
In a close match during the first set, which saw the Troopers defeat the Skyhawks 25-18, the Troopers dominated the second set with a devastating 25-7. Then, in the third set, which saw the Troopers supporters ramping up their enthusiasm, the Troopers took the lead toward the end of the set, scoring considerably up to the 25-17 mark, securing
another victory. “We crushed them so bad,” head coach Tina Irish said with a laugh. Karli Klein led the number of kills with 11 of her own, with Hurt and Coryssa Behles
supplying four each and Naia Alvarez three. Klein and Alvarez also assisted with four aces, while Behles had two. Alvarez offered 16 assists to Josie Westman’s four. Kaitlyn Zook delivered 22 digs to Klein’s 20, while Klein offered five blocks and Alvarez, three.
