Storm rains on Trooper opener

A new season, but the same results.
The Garrison-Max Troopers football team opened its 2010 campaign on a sour note, getting drubbed by Grant County/Flasher 52-zip this past Friday night at Ray Field in Garrison.
The loss was a tough pill to swallow. What hurts even more are the injuries to key players for the Troop. Andrew Haugen left midway through the second quarter after being in on a spectacular tackle. Bobby Parker, the Troopers’ primary ball carrier, started out the season creating stellar runs up-field before being sidelined by a wrist injury.
Coach Darwin Routledge said Haugen suffered a concussion and will be out a minimum of two weeks before he can resume any activity. Routledge said he anticipates it will take at least a third week before Haugen can get back into the swing of things.
It was a little better news for Parker. He suffered a sprained arm, and according to Routledge, it looks like he could miss a week.
