Run 4 Robyn June 1

Run 4 Robyn June 1

It’s been a late spring, and outdoor activity has been, for the most part, kept to a minimum. Organizers for this year’s Run 4 Robyn have the perfect answer – get outside and take part in the event, all for a good cause.
This is the second year for Run 4 Robyn, done to honor Robyn Essler, a Garrison High student and athlete who was tragically killed in a car accident March 22, 2012.
The 5k run/walk begins at 10:30 a.m. Like last year, the staging area will be Ray Field (Trooper football field) track. Check-in and registration will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the track. Registration forms are available at Chase Pharmacy, Garrison, or on Facebook at Run4Robyn 5K.
Kim and Sandra Essler, Robyn’s parents, said that while last year’s event focused more on a run, those who prefer to walk are urged to participate, too. The Esslers are looking for a nice turnout.
“After the long winter everyone is excited to be outside,” she said.
The Esslers hope there’s a good turnout as people remember Robyn’s impact on their lives, whether it was in a school setting, on the track, in the church or in the community.
