Road woes, Titan youth drop pair

The Titan Peewee and Little League teams traveled to Wilton on the 17th and wound up on the losing ends of both games. After a couple of scoreless innings in the first game, the Peewees pushed across three runs in the top of the third to take the lead. But the Miners answered with two in their half of the inning.
In the fourth, the Titans scored two more but that lead vanished when the Miners took advantage of some plays that should have been made but weren't and pushed five runs across. The big blow of the inning was a grand slam giving the Miners a two-run lead. That lead held up as the Titans were held scoreless in the final frame, dropping a 7-5 decision.
In the second game, the Titan Little Leaguers were playing their first game of the season, and this one was tight. It certainly was not a hitting clinic but both teams had plenty of chances to break the game open. The game was a bit like the television show “Lost,” for you older readers the show was Gilligan's Island but in this game it was runners who were stranded.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings as each team had stranded five runners. The Titans managed to scratch a run across in the fourth using two walks, a wild pitch and a Sam Scheresky single to break the tie. But then the Titan defense collapsed, giving away four unearned runs and they found themselves staring up at a three-run deficit going into their final turn with the sticks.
