The Camp of the Cross hosted its annual Prairie Masters Golf Tournament recently at the Garrison Golf Course. But the tournament is just one of a number of activities scheduled each year to benefit the camp.
The first place winning team was comprised of Josh Elke, Marcia Zimmerman, Mike Zimmerman and Scott Harrington. The team carded an 18-hole score of 59. The second place team included Dennis Nordquist, Tim Nordquist, Mandi Britton and Tina Nordquist. The foursome pencilled in a score of 64. Scores were based on gross score-before handicap added.
Claiming first overall using the net score-after the handicap was added was the team of Tim Jarski, Nathan Lahtinen, Jake Niemitalo and Jeremy Huus. The quartet scored a 54.1.
Second place went to the team of Shane Crawford, Ben Gehring, Chad Wimer and Chris Gratton who scored a 55.6.
“Sportsmanship Award” went to Renita Eidenschink, Rick Wendt, Arlo Borud and Wally Lee.
Pin winners included: Longest Putt - Scott Harrington; Men’s Long Drive - Josh Elke; Women’s Long Drive-Marcia Zimmerman; Men’s Closest to the Pin - Mike Zimmerman; Women’s Closest to the Pin - Tina Nordquist.
This was the 12th anniversary of the Prairie Masters. Other fundraisers for the camp include the Prairie Lake Festival and Scandinavian Supper. The supper is the next big fundraiser for the camp. It is set for Nov. 21. The event features Scandinavian delicacies such as salmon, Swedish meatballs, lefse and a variety of Scandinavian deserts.
