Megabowl returns to Washburn

Slow start for the second game of the Troopers season versus the Southern McLean Roughriders. The final score was Roughriders 30, Troopers 10.
With seven minutes left in the first quarter, Southern McLean was able to squeeze into the end zone, with a two-point conversion following.
Sophomore Cole Huesers stepped in at quarterback because Ty Iglehart left the game with a short-lived shoulder injury during a QB sneak attempt.
Tyler Zook followed up a dribble on the snap by recovering the ball and running for a first down.
Shortly after, Southern McLean fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Gavin Mautz for a gain of yardage.
The score at the end of the first quarter was Roughriders 8, Troopers 0.
A busy start to the second quarter with a lot of back and forth until 5:42 left in the half when the Roughriders were able to run one in. Zook broke up the two-point conversion attempt which put the score at Roughriders 14, Troopers 0.
Southern McLean tried for an onside kick which was successfully recovered by the Roughriders.
Timeout called the by the Troopers.
“The only time they win is when we give up,” Coach Robert Miller said. “They can’t stop you three (players) up front.”
