Instead of exchanging punches Tuesday night, the Parshall Braves and the home team Garrison Troopers exchanged buckets. When the final bell, or buzzer sounded, it was the Troopers who were victorious 78-73.
The shootout featured two potent shooting teams. The Braves were led by Kenny Wells who canned 33 – 21 via way of the trey. Josh Ector tossed in 20 to help the cause.
The Troopers matched the Braves to a tee. Mykle Rud mirrored Ector’s 20, but the night belonged to a shining star, senior Ian MacDonald. The 6’ guard also scored 33. But the highlight of the night was a sweet jumper early in the second half that put Ian over the 1,000-point mark. Only five other Troopers in school history have reached that benchmark.
Savoring the moment following the game, receiving hugs and handshakes from family and well-wishers, Ian could only smile, trying to let it all soak in.
“It’s incredible,” he said, wiping sweat from his brow.
