Lakers overpower T’s
By STU MERRY
The Garrison Lady Troopers’ home opener was like an Oreo cookie – strong and tough on the top and the bottom, but sandwiched in the middle, their game was soft.
In the end, a strong finish came up short with Des Lacs-Burlington outlasting the ladies 43-39.
Garrison opened quickly, bolting to a 12-4 lead, and for all intents looked to be on their way to a runaway victory.
Not so fast. The wheels came off. DLB overcame that 8-point deficit to lead by six, 22-16 at intermission. A two-point second quarter would be the Troopers’ undoing.
The second half was more of the same with neither team making a statement. The Lakers were on top 32-27 after three, but it still looked to be anybody’s game.
