Lady T’s open season big

By STU MERRY

The Garrison Lady Troopers opened their 2015-16 basketball campaign in a big way Tuesday night, rolling over Surrey, 68-31 in Garrison.

Employing their patented pressure defense and aggressive play, the Mustangs were neutralized early, committing numerous turnovers. Those turnovers translated into easy buckets for the Troop. At the end of one, it was 30-6.

It quickly became 40-8 with two minutes gone in the second.

Coach Sandra Essler began substituting liberally and at intermission it was 44-9.

In the second half, the Troopers played a more deliberate game, maintaining control and a 35-point lead into the fourth, matching their Surrey counterparts point for point en route to the victory.
