Lady Troopers make run at regions
BY TYSON SMEDSTAD
The Lady Troopers advance to the second round of regions with a win Monday night.
“I know how talented they are … They have a lot of chemistry together,” Garrison head coach Matt Chase said.
The girls advanced to regional play after taking third place in the district tournament last week.
Their first game on Monday was against Grant County.
Garrison started slowly in the first quarter but maintained a lead.
But the second quarter was a completely different story. The team came alive dropping in 23 points to Grant County’s 10.
Going into halftime the Troopers were up 35-18.
After a close third quarter, the Coyotes ran up their score but the Troopers were able to still come out on top. The final score was Garrison 63, Grant County 52.
Sweet Cedar Perkins led the Troop with 23 points, followed by Karli Klein with 15 and Emily Schlehr with 13.
After their win against Grant County, Garrison will move to the second round of play on Tuesday evening. The Troopers were set to take on the Wilton-Wing Miners. Garrison was looking for revenge for a loss to Wilton-Wing back in the beginning of January. This game will be covered in next week’s newspaper.
