Lack of pitching plagues Titans

By STU MERRY
The Garrison-Max Titans American Legion baseball team is struggling both at the plate and on the mound.
After opening the season 5-3 the boys in blue lost the next four, dropping their record to 5-7. They are 5-4 in the section.
Burlington pounded the Titans June 21, 15-4 in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.
Friday, the Titans headed to Stanley, only to drop two close contests, 4-1 and 3-1.
Coach Andrew Haugen bemoaned the fact the team’s lack of pitching depth showed against Burlington last Monday and Wednesday, contests, he said, that were more like 7-run games that ballooned to blowouts in the latter innings when relievers were brought in.
