Rain, wind, a wet field, and a continuously running game clock meant each possession would be critical in this gridiron match-up between the Troopers and the Velva Aggies this past Monday in Velva. Both teams seemed to realize that, putting together first quarter drives.
The Aggies capitalized on their first possession with a 48-yard drive topped off by a 17-yard touchdown.
The Troopers answered with a drive of their own, moving 52 yards to score on an Eddie Whitebear 4- yard run. The conversion was good and with under a minute left in the first quarter, the Troopers led 8-6.
Deep in their own end and after a couple penalties, the Aggies converted a first down and proceeded to march down the field on a 92-yard drive capping it with another touchdown to retake the lead. At half, the score was 12-8.
