J.H Troopers split season finale

The Junior High Troopers were hot to start the game, shooting 4 of 5 from the field in the first quarter to take an 8-4 lead over the Underwood Comets. But they also had seven turnovers and if they expected the offense to do anything the rest of the game after the shooting percentage came back to earth that had to change.
Well, the turnovers continued and the Troopers didn’t get a shot attempt until there was less than a minute left in the half. A single free throw was the extent of the scoring for the Troopers as the Comets erased the lead and were up 2 at the break.
The parade of turnovers continued in the second half but the Troopers were still in the game, down only four going into the fourth quarter. The Comets stretched their lead in the final quarter while the Troopers didn’t score until there was less than a minute left. A brief scoring flurry to close out the game was too little, too late as the Comets came out on top 28-18.
Casyn Kolden led the scoring with 10 before fouling out in the third quarter and Alex Ermer added 3.

The entire roster scored in the A squad game led by Nash Wimer’s 10 on the way to a 37-15 win. After a slow first quarter, the Troopers blew the game open in the second frame and cruised the rest of the way.

Third in Max
An all too familiar lineup of teams plus one newcomer gathered in Max for the annual junior high tournament last weekend. In the final game of the first round, the Troopers met Max for the third time this season and found themselves in an unfamiliar spot, down after one quarter. But a big second quarter erased that deficit and built a 10-point lead at the break.
In the second half, the Troop continued to pull away closing out a 50-29 win. Four Troopers scored in double figures led by Jaaron Kamp’s 14. Gabe Holt had 11 and Cain Foss and Casyn Kolden each added 10 while Nash Wimer put up double figures defensively with 10 steals.
