GARRISON – The resignation of head coach Tina Herr wasn’t as abrupt as others say it’s been. Herr, who started her third year as head coach for the Lady Troopers, cited stressful situations as the rationale behind her design to resign as coach. And those situations, she said, stemmed from disrespect that a number of players gave her since the beginning of the season. At the beginning of the season, Herr had parents and players sign a pledge that they will respect the coach and their decisions, as well as representing the school in a positive light. Despite them signing on the dotted line, there were some players who disregarded these rules, Herr said. “Some of the girls continued to post inappropriate TikToks – one in particular talking trash about me in it,” she said. “I heard some things the girls were saying about me and teammates.” On Aug. 29, Herr sat the girls down to give them a warning. “I said this is your last chance,” Herr said, adding that she told the team that she would start benching players – or cutting them from the team – if they didn’t shape up.
