Garrison Troopers ready to go

The Garrison Troopers closed out the regular season Monday night with an exciting overtime win over Westhope-Newburg, 76-74. The game was at Roy Schei Gym.
It was a coming out night for one of the Troopers’ quieter players. Luke Gehring was on fire, torching the net for a career-high 20. The 5’8” sophomore had the touch from long range, canning four of five three-point shots. He was also 7-11 from the floor.
The Troopers had a balanced scoring attack, which put smiles on the faces of the coaching staff. Mykle Rud tallied 13, and Ian MacDonald’s return to the court was a successful one. He also scored 13. Brookes Reinholt canned 12, and Levi Hummel, who has been coming into his own lately, tossed in 11.
Coach Jason Mattheis said Ian was cleared Monday to play that night. He had missed a few games due to a knee injury.
“We planned to have him play about 8-10 minutes, but with our other foul trouble and overtime, he played about 15 minutes,” Mattheis said. “He (Ian) said he felt good and didn’t have any setbacks during the game, now we just need to see how he is.”
Brookes also saw limited minutes as he’s coming back from injuries as well.
