Garrison High School and the Lady Troopers hosted the District 10 Girls Basketball Tournament this past weekend. Six teams started the tournament, but only four will advance to the regional competition next week.
Garrison started their quest against neighboring Max during the second game of the tournament. The Troopers jumped out in front with an impressive 28-3 lead going into the second quarter.
By the time the team hit half time, the Lady Troopers were ahead 43- 17. Maddie Hurt and Karli Klein scored 14 points each.
Garrison took the game with the final score of 64-41.
The Troopers game on Friday against Center-Stanton was a nail-biter.
“We knew our game against Center-Stanton in the semifinals was going to be a battle,” Garrison Girls Head Coach Matt Chase said. “We went to overtime with them the first time around and we ended up in the same scenario this time around. They are so well-coached and have a team full of seniors that are both mentally and physically strong.”
The Troopers fell to Center-Stanton 56-48.
The Lady Troopers finished strong against Washburn in their third game of the tournament on Saturday.
Senior Sweet Cedar Perkins had an impressive game by scoring 19 points followed by Kaitlyn Zook with 13 and Mia Gehring with 12.
