The Garrison Lady Troopers will advance to the Region 8 tournament at the Mandan High School this coming week as the number two seed.
As number two, the girls will bypass the first round of tournament play – scheduled for Friday evening – and advance to the quarterfinals on Monday.
The girls will play at 6:30 p.m. in Game 6 of the tournament; at press time, the identity of their competitor is unknown as region play continued through Tuesday evening.
“I’m more proud of my team on how they grew together,” said head coach Matt Chase. “They grew as teammates and as kids. That’s far more important than any ranking or wins. That brought a lot of success to our team.”
Chase noted the number one spot “would have been important,” but getting on the other end of the Central McLean Cougars, whom the Lady Troopers beat in a Jan. 11 game that ended in overtime 66-62, served the team well.
