The Garrison-Max-Central McLean Titans are coming into their own. So observes Head Coach Nathan Turck.
The Titans split two with Makoti Monday night in Makoti. The Mavericks took the opener 10-2, but the Titans came back in the second game to win 12-5. Sam Hultberg took the loss in the opener. Ian MacDonald picked up the win in the second game.
A game against Ray this past Thursday in Garrison was suspended due to lightning with the score knotted at four apiece. The game will resume when the Titans travel to Ray July 1.
“The team is doing well,” Turck noted. “(Our) Defense is coming around. Pitching is starting to take shape and showing some depth on the mound as well as other positions.”
Turck notes that when everyone shows up to win, good things happen.
“But unfortunately we haven’t been able to do that consistently yet,” he said.
The Titans hope to see plenty of action this weekend, taking part in the Burlington Tournament. Four teams are entered, but Turck said five are needed to make the tourney a go. If it comes off, this would be the first weekend tournament of the year for the Titans. Turck said the team is ready.
