Essler sets new record

Cross-country records continue to fall like dominoes for Robyn Essler.
On the heels of setting a new school record in Jamestown last week, the ninth-grader bested the mark this past weekend in Dickinson.
Essler ran to a first place finish in the Class B ranks (and 9th overall of Class A and B runners). Her time was 16:17. The time is Robyn’s personal best. At Jamestown, the speedster clocked a time of 16:43.
Jessica Dimitch, another freshman, clocked a time of 22:50, improving her time from last week by a whopping four minutes.
On the boys side, Chris Dimler turned in a time of 22:24, and Mykle Rud hit the tape at 23:27. It was the first action of the season for each. Coach Bill Melaas said the guys were impressive.
“It was a great start for both of them,” he praised. “And it was another excellent outing for the girls.”
Melaas is elated at how Robyn is making her mark in the sport. He credits her success to a strong work ethic.
